Big advantage: bare smooth tubes allow direct wash‑down, unavailable for dense finned coils.
Food processing plants: High‑pressure hot water + food‑safe detergent wash every 1‑4 weeks, remove meat scraps, grease and organic residues. Fully rinse and drain.
Dusty industrial sites: Blow off loose dust with compressed air; wash periodically.
Avoid harsh corrosive cleaning chemicals that attack carbon steel, copper or stainless steel.
Fully dry coils after washing before restarting refrigeration.
4. Refrigerant‑side maintenance
Monitor suction superheat to avoid liquid refrigerant returning to compressor (liquid slugging risk for long bare tube bundles).
Check and clean filter‑driers, remove moisture and debris inside the tube circuit.
For multi‑circuit bare tube coils, verify even refrigerant distribution; maldistribution leads to partial under‑utilization of tube bundles.
5. Corrosion protection
Carbon‑steel bare tube evaporators: Inspect paint / anti‑corrosion coating condition; touch‑up damaged coating timely in high‑humidity environments.
Stainless‑steel coils: Watch for chloride‑induced pitting corrosion (common in seafood processing cold rooms).
Keep surrounding area well‑ventilated to reduce condensation on tube outer walls.
6. Annual major maintenance
Pressure test coil circuits to check for hidden leakage.
