Main Role of Dry Cooler in Bitcoin Immersion Cooling System
The main purpose of a dry cooler in a bitcoin immersion cooling system is to dissipate heat. Bitcoin miners generate a lot of heat when operating at high loads, especially in immersion cooling systems, where the miner is submerged in a heat-conducting fluid (usually dielectric oil), through which the heat is transferred away from the device. The dry cooler acts as an external cooling system, dissipating heat through air flow and transferring heat from the coolant to the environment.
In immersion cooling, the heat generated by the mining machine is first absorbed by the heat transfer fluid and then the heated fluid is pumped through the pipework to the dry cooler. Inside the dry cooler, the liquid passes through a heat exchanger and comes into contact with cold air, to which the heat is transferred and expelled. The cooled liquid is then recirculated back into the system for further cooling of the miner.
This type of cooling avoids the dependence on water resources in water-cooled systems and is suitable for areas where water resources are scarce or ambient temperatures are low. Dry coolers do not require the consumption of large quantities of water, reducing the environmental impact, and are simple to operate with no need to deal with water quality issues. The application of dry coolers also reduces evaporation losses of the cooling liquid, further improving cooling efficiency and economy.
