Heavy fuel oil heater is a key shell-and-tube component integrated into complete marine fuel supply systems. Most large marine diesel engines run on heavy fuel oil (HFO), which relies on this preheater to achieve qualified fluidity for three core working processes: fuel transshipment, purification treatment and engine injection.
Working Principle
High-temperature steam or hot fresh water circulates inside heat transfer tubes, while cold high-viscosity heavy fuel oil flows across the shell side. Heat transfers through tube wall to raise HFO temperature and cut its viscosity obviously.
Three Core Preheating Functions
Smooth Transshipment: Lower oil viscosity to avoid pipeline clogging and reduce pump load during fuel delivery;
Effective Purification: Proper preheating helps water and impurity separate out efficiently in fuel oil purifiers;
Perfect Injection: Preheated HFO gets fine atomization when passing engine nozzles for full and stable combustion.
