How Does the Oil Pump Work in OFAF Cooling Method
In OFAF (Oil Forced Air Forced) cooling mode, the oil pump is the core component that drives forced oil circulation.
It forces hot transformer oil to circulate rapidly between the transformer main tank and external radiator/heat exchanger, instead of relying on natural thermal convection like ONAN/ONAF.
Working Process Step by Step
Absorb heat
The transformer’s winding and core generate heat, heating up the insulating oil inside the tank.
Forced suction by oil pump
The submersible oil pump installed at the bottom or side of the transformer sucks hot oil out of the main tank.
Deliver to cooling radiator
The pump pushes the hot oil into the finned tube cooler; cooling fans blow forced air over the tubes to take away heat.
Return cooled oil
After temperature drops, the cooled oil flows back into the transformer tank to re-absorb heat.
Continuous cycle
The oil pump runs continuously to maintain fast, forced oil loop, keeping transformer temperature stable even under heavy overload.
