OFAF Transformer Oil Coolers Working Principle
Hot Oil Extraction: A submersible pump extracts hot oil from the upper layer of the transformer and forces it into the cooler tube bundle.
Forced Heat Exchange: A high-speed fan outside the tube bundle blows air, carrying away heat from the oil pipes.
Cool Oil Return: The cooled oil flows back to the transformer tank to reabsorb heat from the core/windings, in a continuous cycle.
OFAF Transformer Oil Coolers Core Components
Cooler Body: Finned tube bundle (high-efficiency heat exchange), frame (vibration-resistant and corrosion-resistant).
Submersible Pump: Forced oil circulation, stable flow rate.
Cooling Fan: Low noise, high airflow, multiple units in parallel.
Control System: Automatic start/stop of the oil pump/fan based on oil temperature, intelligent temperature control.
Applications: Main transformers in large substations (110kV/220kV/500kV); Step-up transformers in power plants, converter transformers in converter stations; High-power rectifier transformers in metallurgy, chemical industry, and rail transit.
OFAF Transformer Oil Coolers Comparison with other cooling methods:
ONAN (Oil-immersed self-cooled): No pump or fan, relies on natural convection, low efficiency, suitable for small transformers.
ONAF (Oil-immersed air-cooled): Natural oil circulation + fan, moderate efficiency, suitable for medium-sized transformers.
OFAF (Forced oil-air-cooled): Oil pump + fan, highest efficiency, suitable for large/heavy-load transformers.
OWF (Forced oil-water-cooled): Oil pump + water cooling, extremely high efficiency, suitable for ultra-large or water-scarce air-cooling scenarios.
