Flue Gas Heat Recovery Gas to Gas


Flue gas heat recovery is a process of energy recovery by capturing the thermal energy in the exhaust gases from an industrial process and using it to heat other media or perform other useful tasks. This type of heat recovery is sometimes referred to as gas-to-gas heat recovery, in which the heat energy in the exhaust gases is used to heat another set of gases for energy reuse.


Here are some common applications of gas-to-gas in flue gas heat recovery:


Boiler systems: In industry and energy production, boilers are typically used to generate steam or hot water. With flue gas heat recovery, the waste heat emitted from the boiler can be captured and used to heat the air or water feeding the boiler, improving combustion efficiency.


Gas Turbine: Gas turbines are used to generate electricity in power plants and other industrial applications. The high temperature heat in the exhaust gases can be used in a heat recovery system to preheat the incoming air to the gas turbine, improving the combustion efficiency of the fuel.


Drying processes: In some manufacturing processes, materials need to be dried. By using the heat from the exhaust gases to heat the air or other media in the drying process, energy consumption can be reduced.

Air-conditioning systems: Flue gas heat recovery can also be used in air-conditioning systems to improve the efficiency of the cooling system by capturing the heat energy in the exhaust gases.


Furnace combustion: In furnace combustion systems used in some industrial processes, the high temperature gases in the exhaust gases can be used to preheat the air entering the combustion chamber and improve combustion efficiency.


Hot water supply: The heat energy in the exhaust gases can be used to heat hot water systems in industrial or commercial applications.


Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD): In some chemical and coal-fired power plants, where flue gas is desulphurised, the heat energy in the exhaust gases can be used to provide the heat required for the reaction.


In these ways, flue gas heat recovery can help organisations improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and lower their environmental impact.
