As a result, there is an array of industrial ammonia evaporator options that include forced air draw thru evaporators and plate and frame or shell & tube evaporators. These options are designed to maximize the use of evaporator surfaces and take advantage of the boiling action that results in about 2 to 3 pounds of liquid being recirculated for every pound of refrigerant evaporated.

This process involves the absorption of heat from the surrounding environment, causing the liquid ammonia to vaporize and turn into a gas. The gas is then drawn into the compressor of the refrigeration system, where it is compressed and condensed back into a liquid state.
