Adiabatic Coolers for Injection Molding Machines


Adiabatic coolers are based on the principle that when the pressure on an adiabatically isolated system decreases, the air expands, its internal energy decreases, and the temperature drops. In an adiabatic air cooler, a fan draws air across the coil. When the warm air meets the wetted pad or water spray, the air temperature is adiabatically reduced, allowing the coil to be sensibly cooled below the ambient dry - bulb temperature. When the ambient temperature is lower than the set - point for the fluid being cooled, the cooler operates in dry mode, with the fans drawing ambient air across the coil to cool it. As the ambient temperature rises and the desired cooling can no longer be achieved, the cooler switches to adiabatic mode.
