Generators (e.g., diesel, gas, or steam turbines) produce significant heat during operation due to electrical resistance, mechanical friction, and combustion processes. If unchecked, this heat can damage windings, insulation, and other components, reducing efficiency and lifespan. Generator air cooling heat exchangers transfer this heat from the generator’s internal air (or cooling medium) to a secondary fluid (e.g., water or ambient air), maintaining optimal operating temperatures (typically 40–80°C for windings).
