How Does Rear Door Heat Exchanger Work?
Airflow Path: Servers take in cool air from the front of the rack (the "cold aisle") and expel hot air out the rear (the "hot aisle").
Direct Capture: Instead of blowing this 35−46°C air into the room, the RDHx forces it to pass through a finned coil.
Heat Transfer: Chilled water 15−24°C is pumped through the coil. The hot air transfers its heat to the cooler water.
Cooled Exhaust: The air exits the rear door at a significantly lower temperature—often close to the room's ambient temperature 24-29°C
Advantages
Retrofit Friendly: Installs on existing racks without major facility changes.
Preserves Serviceability: Technicians can still access the rear of the rack (door swings open).
Uses Standard Chilled Water: Works with existing building chilled water systems (higher temperature than Direct-to-Chip).
Server Agnostic: Works with any server that has rear exhaust. No modifications to servers needed.
