Finned Tube Radiator for Timber Drying System
Finned tube radiators are core heat exchange components in timber drying systems, responsible for transferring thermal energy (typically from hot water, steam, or hot air) to the drying chamber, maintaining stable temperature and humidity conditions to remove moisture from wood efficiently while preventing defects like cracking, warping, or discoloration.
Timber drying requires precise control of air temperature (40–80°C, depending on wood species) and relative humidity (30–80%) to ensure moisture evaporates evenly from the wood’s interior to the surface. Finned tube radiators fulfill two critical tasks:
Heating the circulating air: They absorb heat from the heat source (e.g., steam from a boiler) and transfer it to the air in the drying chamber, raising the air temperature to the required drying level.
Regulating humidity indirectly: By adjusting the air temperature, the radiator helps control the air’s moisture-holding capacity (warmer air can absorb more moisture from wood), coordinating with dehumidifiers to optimize drying speed.
