Cooling Coils for TRANE AHU
The cooling coil is the key component of the AHU, and its working principle is to circulate the refrigerant or chilled water in the coil to absorb the heat of the air flowing through the outer surface of the coil, so as to realize the cooling and dehumidification of the air. When the air passes through the cooling coil, its temperature is lowered and the water vapor in the air will condense into water droplets when it reaches the dew point temperature, thus reducing the humidity of the air.
Types
Direct Expansion Cooling Coil: Directly connected to the refrigerant circuit of the refrigeration system, the refrigerant evaporates and absorbs heat in the coil, cooling the air directly. It can quickly and effectively reduce the air temperature, often used in small AHU systems or places where the cooling speed is required to be high.
Chilled Water Cooling Coil: Using the chilled water produced by the centralized chiller as the cooling medium, the chilled water flows in the coil and absorbs the heat of the air. This type of cooling coil is suitable for large commercial buildings, industrial plants and other places that require a large amount of cooling to achieve precise temperature control and humidity regulation.
Energy Recovery Cooling Coil: Typically installed in an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), this coil is used to transfer energy and sensible heat between two air streams while ensuring that the two air streams remain separate. This improves the overall efficiency of the system and significantly reduces energy consumption in heating and cooling applications, resulting in energy savings.
