How an AHU works in a typical HVAC system?
Air Intake: Outdoor air is drawn into the AHU through intake ducts. This air may be mixed with recirculated indoor air for better efficiency.
Filtration: The incoming air passes through filters that capture dust, pollen, and other pollutants, improving indoor air quality.
Temperature Control:
Heating: If the air needs to be warmed, it passes over heating coils where hot water or steam heats the air.
Cooling: If cooling is required, the air flows over cooling coils containing chilled water or refrigerant, lowering the air temperature.
Humidity Control: Depending on the system, the AHU may also have humidifiers or dehumidifiers to manage humidity levels.
Air Distribution: The blower/fan pushes the conditioned air through ductwork and into various spaces within the building.
Exhaust: Some AHUs are equipped with exhaust systems that expel stale air from the building, maintaining a balance of fresh air.
