Air Cooler Tube Bundle for Generator
Generator operation produces heat from electrical losses (copper losses in windings) and mechanical friction. Hot air (60–120°C) from the generator flows over the tube bundle (either inside or outside the tubes, depending on design).
Air-side flow: Hot air passes over the tube surfaces (often enhanced by fins), transferring heat through the tube walls.
Cooling medium flow: A coolant (e.g., cold water at 20–30°C or ambient air) circulates inside the tubes, absorbing heat and exiting at a higher temperature (30–40°C).
This process lowers the air temperature to 30–50°C, which is recirculated into the generator to prevent overheating and insulation degradation.
