Precision air conditioning is used in BESS applications because battery energy storage equipment needs a much more controlled environment than ordinary room cooling can provide.

During charging and discharging, batteries and power electronics generate heat. If that heat is not removed properly, the internal temperature of the container or equipment room can rise, and that can affect battery performance, shorten service life, and increase safety risk. Precision air conditioning helps keep the temperature within a stable range so the system can operate more safely and consistently.

Another reason is temperature uniformity. In a BESS enclosure, it is not enough to make the space generally cool. The airflow has to be distributed well so that different battery racks, cabinets, and electrical components do not develop hot spots. Precision air conditioning is designed for this kind of equipment-focused cooling, with tighter control and better airflow management than ordinary comfort air conditioning.

It is also used because many BESS projects run continuously and cannot tolerate unstable environmental conditions. Precision units are built for long operating hours, accurate control, and reliable protection of technical equipment. In some systems, they also help manage humidity, which is important for reducing condensation risk and protecting electrical components.
