Where is Dry Cooler Used in the Plastic Molding Process?


The dry cooler is part of the Temperature Control Unit (TCU) or Chiller system. It cools the water that circulates through:

  1. Injection Molds: This is the most critical application. After molten plastic is injected into a mold, it must be cooled rapidly and uniformly to solidify the product so it can be ejected without deformation.

  2. Hydraulic Units: The hydraulic systems that operate the injection molding machine generate significant heat. Cooling these systems is essential for maintaining viscosity and preventing overheating.

  3. Barrel and Screw (Plasticizing Unit): While heating is primary here, some zones may require cooling for precise temperature control.
