A Vacuum Furnace Surface Cooler (VFC) is a component in a vacuum furnace used to rapidly cool the surface of a heated object. Vacuum furnace is a kind of heat treatment equipment in low or no air pressure environment, used to treat metals, ceramics and other materials.


The function of a vacuum furnace surface cooler is to transfer the cooling medium (usually hydrogen, nitrogen or inert gas) to the surface of the object being heated by conduction or convection to achieve rapid cooling. It usually consists of the following main parts:


Inlet and outlet of the cooling medium: The vacuum furnace surface cooler is connected to the external cooling system and the cooling medium is introduced and discharged via inlet and outlet pipes. These pipes are usually connected to the control system of the vacuum furnace to enable the flow control of the cooling medium.


Cooling medium distribution system: The cooling medium distribution system is used to distribute the cooling medium evenly over the surface of the object to be heated. It usually consists of a number of nozzles or showers which ensure that the cooling medium covers the entire surface and cools the object effectively.


Cooling medium circulation system: The cooling medium circulation system is responsible for bringing the cooling medium in through the inlet, cooling it over the surface of the cooler and then discharging it through the outlet. This system usually consists of pumps, pipework and flow control devices to ensure circulation and a steady flow of the cooling medium.


The use of a vacuum furnace surface cooler enables rapid cooling of the object being heated, thus controlling the organisation and properties of the material. It has important applications in metal heat treatment, ceramic product manufacturing and other high temperature treatment processes. By adjusting the flow rate and temperature of the cooling medium, precise control of the cooling rate can be achieved to meet specific process requirements.
