Plate-type transformer radiator is the standard heat dissipation component widely equipped on medium & small power transformers with ONAN and ONAF cooling modes. Unlike finned tube OFAF coolers used for large-capacity transformers, plate radiators adopt an integrated welded plate structure, directly mounted on transformer tank walls to dissipate heat through natural air or auxiliary fans. CST Heat Exchanger supplies high-performance plate-type radiators fully compliant with IEC standards, perfectly matching distribution transformers from 10kVA up to 30MVA.
Each plate radiator consists of two steel sheets welded together to form internal flow channels for transformer insulating oil.
1. Hot oil rises from the upper part of the transformer tank and flows into the hollow channels inside radiator plates.
2. Heat transfers from oil to the outer steel plate surface.
3. Heat dissipates to ambient air via natural convection (ONAN) or forced air from external axial fans (ONAF).
4. Cooled oil sinks back to the bottom of the transformer tank to complete circulation.
