IQF Evaporator Fin Spacing for Frozen Meat (Beef/Pork/Mutton/Poultry/Diced Meat)

Freezing temp: -32℃ ~ -40℃, meat releases heavy moisture & fat vapor → wider fin pitch to avoid frost blockage and fat adhesion, standard below:

1. Standard Fixed Fin Pitch (Most common meat IQF tunnel/spiral)

Diced meat, minced pork/beef, chicken dices

8–10 mm

Fluidized bed IQF, small granular meat, moderate moisture, balance heat exchange & anti-frost

Whole chicken, chicken parts, pork ribs, lamb chops

10–12 mm

Spiral freezer / impingement tunnel, high water evaporation, frequent defrost risk

Big beef chunk, whole mutton carcass, high-fat meat

12–14 mm

Heavy moisture + grease volatilization, prevent fin fouling by fat residue

2. Variable Gradient Fin Pitch (Premium meat production line, mainstream European design)

Air inlet side: 18~20 mm → Air outlet side:10~12 mm

Inlet: large spacing to catch heavy initial frost & meat moisture; outlet smaller for stable heat transfer

Extend continuous running time between defrost by 30%+, reduce maintenance frequency

3. Custom Special Pitch Options

Ultra high-fat meat (bacon, fatty pork): 14–16 mm full wide pitch, 304/316 stainless steel fin to resist fat corrosion & easy high-pressure washdown

Pre-chilling + two-stage IQF line: pre-cool section 8mm, deep-freeze section 10–12mm

4. Material & Maintenance Correlation

Fin material: High-fat meat processing prefer 304/316 stainless steel fin + stainless tube, vs ordinary aluminum fin easy grease corrosion

Maintenance cost impact:

8–12mm standard pitch: regular annual cleaning cost lower, no frequent fin repair

≥14mm extra-wide pitch: cleaning convenience up, annual maintenance cost ↓10%~18%, heat exchange slightly reduced

5. Compare with Seafood & Cheese for reference

Seafood (shrimp/squid):8–12mm

Cheese:8–10mm

Frozen meat overall wider pitch than dairy, similar or wider than seafood due to fat vapor pollution
