How Often Should I Clean The Coils of My Ripening Cooler?
For a fruit ripening room cooler (banana / mango / etc.).
How Often to Clean Coils
Light use / clean environment: Clean coils every 3 months
Normal commercial use: Clean coils every 1–2 months
Busy ripening room / high ethylene / dusty: Clean coils every 2–4 weeks
Why so often?
Ripening rooms have:
High humidity
Ethylene gas
Fruit dust, sap, latex
Mold & mildew spores
All of this sticks to coils fast and blocks airflow → poor cooling → uneven ripening → wasted fruit.
Quick Rule of Thumb (easy to remember)
If airflow feels weak → clean now
If cooling is slower than usual → clean now
If frost builds up unevenly on coils → clean now
Minimum Maintenance Schedule (for ripening rooms)
Filters: Clean or replace every 1–2 weeks
Drain pan & line: Flush every month
Coils: Clean at least once a month during peak season
