Constraints on space: some equipment may have a small engine compartment that cannot hold a large enough radiator. Remote radiators allow the radiator to be put in a more convenient location, resulting in a wider cooling area that can dissipate heat more efficiently.

Reduced wind resistance: The front of the engine may demand a bigger input of air, such as that used to augment air into the turbocharger, on some equipment. Moving the radiator away from the front of the engine minimizes air flow resistance, improving overall efficiency.

Dust and corrosion protection: Remote radiators can be placed reasonably high up, away from road dust and debris. This helps to increase the life of the radiator by decreasing dust and corrosion exposure.
