Gas Generator Dry Coolers

A gas generator dry cooler is a device used to reduce the exhaust gas temperature of a generating set, usually in a gas turbine power station. Its function is to improve the efficiency of the entire power generation system by cooling the gas exhaust from the gas turbine, while reducing thermal pollution to the environment.

In a gas-fired power station, the high-temperature, high-pressure gas produced by the gas turbine is discharged after power generation. This gas contains a large amount of heat energy which, if not utilised, results in wasted energy.

Gas generator dry cooler: A dry cooler is usually installed in the exhaust system of a gas turbine to reduce the temperature of the exhaust gas. It cools the gas by transferring heat from the hot gas to the outside air through the surfaces in the cooler.

Heat Exchange: A dry cooler contains a series of surfaces for heat exchange, which are usually designed for efficient heat transfer. Through these surfaces, the hot gas releases heat, which is transferred to the outside air passing through the surfaces.

The use of a dry cooler can increase the operational flexibility of a gas-fired power station, as it helps to control the exhaust temperature of the gas turbine and adapt to different operating conditions.
