The fins, also known as warps, are important heat exchange components of finned heat exchangers. Currently on the market a variety of fin styles, according to the fins and heat exchanger tube connection is different, mainly divided into longitudinal fins and transverse fins.

1. longitudinal fins

Longitudinal fins are in the same direction as the heat exchanger tube. Mostly used in petrochemical industry for shell and tube heat exchanger and aluminium tube evaporator in cold storage.

2. transverse fins

Transverse fins are most widely used in all kinds of heat exchangers, according to the different production processes and structural characteristics, can be divided into two forms of winding and string fins.

1. Winding fins

Winding and mainly divided into two types of welding and extrusion, fins winding in the heat exchanger tube, through welding or mechanical extrusion and heat exchanger tube connected. Most of the fins are corrugated and flat-wound.

2. String fins

The finned heat exchanger is mostly used for heat exchange with air, such as air-cooled condenser and chiller.

String piece way, according to the string piece of different, and can be subdivided into flat piece, hemp point piece, corrugated piece, open window piece and so on many kinds of forms. As far as heat transfer efficiency is concerned, the heat transfer efficiency of open-window sheet is the best, followed by corrugated sheet, flat sheet, and twisted sheet.
