1. Extruded Finned Tube

Manufacturing Process

The outer metal layer (aluminum/copper) clad on the base tube is rolled and extruded integrally. Fin and base tube are metallurgically bonded without gaps.

Main Advantages

  • Ultra-low thermal resistance, higher heat transfer efficiency

  • High mechanical strength, excellent vibration resistance, fins never fall off

  • No welding seam, avoiding seam corrosion

  • Good anti-corrosion performance

  • Working temperature: Aluminum extrusion ≤250–280°C; Copper extrusion up to 300°C

Disadvantages

Higher mold cost, more suitable for mass standardized production.

Typical Application

Air coolers, HVAC systems, marine platforms, seawater desalination, medium & low temperature heat exchange.

2. Welded Finned Tube (High Frequency Welded)

Manufacturing Process

Metal strip (carbon steel/stainless steel/aluminum) is spirally wound on the base tube, then fixed by high-frequency welding, laser welding or brazing.

Main Advantages

  • High temperature resistance: up to 450–600°C

  • Flexible material matching: dissimilar metal combination for tube and fin

  • Low production cost, fast delivery, suitable for small batch & non-standard orders

Disadvantages

Weld seam is weak point; higher contact thermal resistance; risk of welding crack and seam corrosion.

Typical Application

Power plant boilers, petrochemical furnaces, flue gas waste heat recovery, high temperature industrial heat exchangers.
