Evaporator used in Banana Ripening Warehouse


The evaporator maintains the temperature inside the ripening warehouse within a specific range. Generally speaking, the appropriate temperature for banana ripening is between 18 - 24°C. The evaporator, through the refrigeration system and temperature sensors, is able to monitor the temperature inside the warehouse in real time and perform or stop the refrigeration operation according to the set value. For example, when the temperature inside the warehouse is higher than the set upper limit of 24°C, the chiller starts refrigeration and distributes cold air evenly in the warehouse to bring down the temperature.


During the ripening process of bananas, if the temperature fluctuates too much, it will lead to uneven ripening and affect the quality and taste of bananas. The stable operation of the evaporator helps to keep the temperature relatively stable and reduce the temperature changes caused by the temperature difference between day and night or the start and stop of the equipment. This is like providing a “thermostat” for bananas so that they ripen evenly in a stable temperature environment.


In addition to temperature, humidity is also an important factor in ripening bananas. The evaporator regulates the humidity in the warehouse and the ideal humidity for ripening bananas is usually between 90 - 95%. During the cooling process, the evaporator causes the water vapor in the air to condense into water droplets, which are discharged out of the warehouse through the drainage system, thus reducing the humidity.

If the humidity is too low, the bananas will lose too much water resulting in wrinkling of the skin, affecting the appearance and quality. Effective control of humidity by the evaporator prevents excessive water loss of bananas and maintains their freshness and fullness.


The evaporator circulates the air inside the ripening warehouse continuously through the operation of the fan. This ensures uniform temperature, humidity and ethylene gas concentration in all corners of the warehouse. Good air circulation can also avoid localized overheating or overhumidity, providing an all-round suitable ripening environment for bananas.

In the process of banana ripening, ethylene gas is an important ripening agent. The air circulation function of the evaporator can distribute the ethylene gas evenly in the warehouse, so that the bananas can be fully exposed to the ethylene gas and accelerate the ripening process. Moreover, the air circulation can also discharge the carbon dioxide and other exhaust gases produced by banana respiration in time to maintain the freshness of the air inside the warehouse.
