Dry Coolers in Injection Molding Production


Dry coolers are widely used in injection molding production to cool plastic molds and raw materials.

They cool process fluids by exchanging heat with air, thereby reducing temperatures during the injection molding process. Dry coolers for injection molding machines are critical equipment in industrial refrigeration systems, primarily serving to enhance product quality and accelerate production speed by cooling injection molds or raw materials.


Working Principle

A dry cooler (dry-type cooler) is a device that achieves waterless cooling through heat exchange between air and fluid.

In injection molding applications, dry coolers typically circulate ethylene glycol solutions or other coolants through the heat exchanger.

Fans blow air over the surface cooler, utilizing the airflow to dissipate heat from the fluid, thereby achieving the cooling effect.

The cooled fluid is then recirculated to the injection molding machine to cool the mold or raw materials, completing the injection molding process.


Primary Functions

Mold Cooling: Cools the cavities of injection molds, shortening product curing time and improving production efficiency.

Raw Material Cooling: In certain applications, it also cools injection molding materials to prevent degradation or defects caused by excessive temperatures.

Enhanced Product Quality: By regulating cooling temperatures, it minimizes defects like warping and shrinkage, improving product quality and dimensional stability.

Energy Efficiency: As an energy-saving device, dry coolers can partially replace compressors, reducing overall energy consumption.
