Device for Cooling Transformer Oil in Transformers

Transformer oil cooler is the equipment used to cool the transformer oil in the transformer.

Transformer in the operation process will produce a lot of heat, if not timely heat dissipation, may lead to transformer overheating, thus affecting its performance and life. The main function of the transformer oil cooler is to maintain the normal operating temperature of the transformer by cooling the transformer oil.

Main functions

Heat dissipation: through cooling the transformer oil, the heat generated by the transformer in the working process will be emitted to prevent the transformer from overheating.

Stabilising temperature: maintain the temperature of transformer oil in a stable range to ensure the normal operation of the transformer.

Prolong life: through effective cooling, reduce the thermal stress and aging speed of the internal parts of the transformer, thus prolonging the service life of the transformer.

Components

Oil pump: Used to circulate transformer oil and ensure smooth oil flow in the cooling system.

Heat exchanger: uses air or water as the cooling medium, through the heat exchanger the heat in the transformer oil is emitted.

Temperature control system: control the temperature of the transformer oil by adjusting the oil flow or cooling medium flow.

Filter: removes impurities in the transformer oil to prevent clogging of the cooler and wear inside the transformer.

Types

Air-cooled cooler: heat in the transformer oil is taken away by means of a fan, usually applicable to small or medium-sized transformers.

Water-cooled cooler: using water as the cooling medium, heat is taken away through water pipes and coolers, applicable to large transformers.

Importance

Prevent overheating: Effective cooling prevents transformers from being damaged by overheating and ensures their stable operation.

Improve efficiency: By maintaining an appropriate operating temperature, efficiency loss and increased energy consumption due to overheating are reduced.

Protecting equipment: the use of coolers reduces thermal stress on the internal components of the transformer and extends the life of the equipment.
