Condenser Coil Common Failures and Solutions
The condenser coil may have many kinds of failures in the operation process, the following are some common failures and the corresponding solutions:
Leakage
Failure causes
Corrosion: After long-term use, the anti-corrosion layer on the surface of the coil may be damaged, resulting in corrosion of the metal parts in contact with the refrigerant or air, water, etc., thus resulting in leakage points.
Vibration wear: When the air conditioner is running, the coil will produce certain vibration due to compressor vibration, etc., which will cause friction with the surrounding parts or wear and tear by its own fatigue, resulting in breakage of the tube wall.
Manufacturing defects: the coiler in the manufacturing process there may be welding is not solid, cracks in the pipe and other quality problems, in use for some time after the gradual emergence of leaks.
Solution
Leakage: Use halogen leak detector, soapy water and other tools to carry out a comprehensive inspection of the coiler to determine the location of the leakage point.
Repair: For smaller leaks, patch welding can be used to repair; if the leak is large or the coil is seriously damaged, it is generally necessary to replace the damaged coil section or the entire condenser coil.
Scaling
Failure causes
Water quality problems: water-cooled condenser, if the cooling water quality is poor, containing a large number of calcium, magnesium and other ions and impurities, it is easy to form scale on the inner wall of the coil.
Air impurities: air-cooled condenser in long-term operation, the air dust, oil, etc. will adhere to the surface of the coil, the formation of dirt, affecting heat dissipation.
Solution
Chemical cleaning: For water-cooled condenser, special descaling agent can be used for cyclic cleaning to remove the scale on the inner wall of the coil through chemical reaction; for air-cooled condenser, special air-conditioning cleaning agent can be used to spray on the surface of the coil, and then rinsed with water or gently scrubbed with a soft brush.
Physical cleaning: you can use high-pressure water gun flushing, mechanical scraping and other physical methods to remove the dirt on the surface of the coil, but the operation should be careful to avoid damage to the coil.
Clogging
Failure causes
Impurities into: the system of welding slag, rust debris and other impurities may enter the condenser coil with the refrigerant or cooling water, resulting in clogging.
Refrigerant problem: Water contained in the refrigerant may freeze at low temperatures, or impurities, oil sludge, etc. in the refrigerant may accumulate in the coil, resulting in clogging.
Solution
Disassemble and clean: Disassemble the condenser coil and use high-pressure air or high-pressure water to backflush the blockage.
Replace the filter: Check and replace the filter drier in the system to prevent impurities from re-entering the coil. At the same time, test and treat the refrigerant and replace with qualified refrigerant if necessary.
Deformation
Failure causes
External force extrusion: In the process of installation or maintenance, the coil may be extruded and collided by external force due to improper operation, resulting in deformation.
Pressure abnormality: When the air conditioning system is running, if the pressure is too high, the coil may be subjected to excessive pressure and deformed.
Solution
Slightly deformed repair: For slightly deformed coils, special tools can be used to correct them and try to restore the original shape of the coil.
Serious deformation treatment: If the deformation is serious, affecting the flow of refrigerant and heat exchange effect, should be replaced in a timely manner deformed coil section or the entire condenser coil.
Fan failure (for air-cooled condenser)
Failure causes
Damage to the motor: the fan motor may have short-circuited windings, broken circuits and other faults during long-term operation, resulting in the motor failing to operate normally.
Fan blade problem: the fan blade may be aging, deformed, loose, etc., affecting the fan's air supply effect.
Control Circuit Failure: Failure of the fan's control circuit, such as damaged relays, poor wiring contact, etc., will also lead to the fan can not work properly.
Solution
Motor repair or replacement: repair the damaged motor or directly replace the new motor.
Fan blade repair or replacement: repair the deformed or loose fan blade, if it can not be repaired then replace the new fan blade.
Check the control circuit: use multimeter and other tools to check the control circuit, repair or replace damaged relays, connecting wires and other parts.
