Air Cooled Chiller Cooling Coils
Material Selection: Cooling coils are usually made of copper or stainless steel tubes, copper tubes have good thermal conductivity, can quickly transfer heat, and good corrosion resistance; stainless steel tubes have higher strength and corrosion resistance, suitable for some of the water quality requirements of the higher or the environment is more severe occasions.
Fin design: In order to increase the contact area between the cooling coil and the air, improve heat transfer efficiency, the outer surface of the coil is usually installed fins. Fin shape, spacing and material will affect the heat transfer effect, common fin shape has flat fins, corrugated fins, louvered fins and so on.
Coil arrangement: cooling coil in the air-cooled chiller is usually serpentine or spiral arrangement, so that the refrigerant in the coil uniform flow, full heat exchange with the air, but also easy to install and maintain.
The refrigerant flows and evaporates on the evaporator tube bundle, absorbing heat from the circulating cold water and lowering the temperature of the cold water. The compressor then draws out the refrigerant vapor and pumps it to the condenser, increasing its temperature and pressure. The refrigerant condenses in the condenser's cooling coil, releasing heat into the surrounding air. The cooling coil is usually of finned design to increase the heat dissipation area and improve the heat dissipation efficiency. The high-pressure liquid re-enters the evaporator through the expansion device to start a new cycle, thus realizing continuous refrigeration and providing low-temperature cold water for process water or air-conditioning system.

Advantage: Compared with the cooling coil of water-cooled chiller, the cooling coil of air-cooled chiller does not need additional cooling water system, such as cooling tower, cooling water pump, etc., which reduces the complexity of the system and covers an area, and is more convenient for installation and maintenance; air-cooled cooling coil directly utilizes the air as the cooling medium, and there is no problem of leakage of cooling water, which makes it more reliable in operation, and it is more adaptive to the environment, and it can be operated in different Application areas
