In an ASIC submerged cooling system, a portion of the cryptocurrency bitcoin miner, usually the arithmetic board, is submerged in a dielectric coolant to keep the ASIC chip cool and extend the power efficiency and life of the machine. Traditionally, miners "air-cool" the machine by using ventilation fans and special HVAC systems to adjust the miner to keep the chip temperature low.

The main premise behind its use is that it cools the arithmetic plate faster because the fluid has a greater heat transfer capability than air.
