What is the Difference Between AHU and FCU?
Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs) are both used for indoor air conditioning, but they work differently and have different application scenarios.
AHU (Air Handling Unit): It is usually installed in central air-conditioning systems and is responsible for handling air in large spaces. It is capable of regulating air temperature and humidity, and integrates filters and heat recovery systems, and is suitable for large commercial buildings, hospitals, factories, etc. AHUs generally distribute treated air to each space through the air duct system.
FCU (Fan Coil Unit): is a localised air conditioning unit, usually installed directly in each room.FCU achieves air cooling or heating through built-in fans and coils and is suitable for small independent spaces.FCU does not have air filtration or humidification functions and is usually used in conjunction with an AHU system.
In simple terms, AHUs are suitable for the core of a central air-conditioning system, while FCUs are suitable for terminal local conditioning.
