V Type LT HT Dry Cooler for MTU 20 V 4000 GS Gas Engine
High Temperature (HT) and Low Temperature (LT) coolants for cooling gas engines, corresponding to the engine's cylinder liner cooling circuit (HT circuit) and lube oil/booster air cooling circuit (LT circuit), respectively.
Heat dissipation is achieved by “dry cooling” (direct cooling of the air without additional water supply), which is suitable for industrial applications where water resources are limited or where water conservation is required.
Applications
Gas-fired gensets: e.g. gensets driven by natural gas engines, biogas engines.
Industrial gas power plants: e.g. gas compressors, gas turbines, etc.
Distributed energy systems: in combined heat and power (CHP) or combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) systems.
Structural Design and Working Principle
Advantages of V-shape Structure
Compact Layout: Two sets of heat sink modules are arranged in a V-shape angle (usually 60°~90°), which reduces the footprint and is easy to be integrated into the engine compartment or outdoor cabinet.
Efficient Airflow Organization: The V-shape design guides the airflow generated by the fan evenly through the two sets of cooling fins, which improves the heat exchange efficiency and reduces the air-side resistance.
Key Components
Heat Dissipation Tube Bundle:
Material: Copper or Stainless Steel Tube (high corrosion resistance, adaptable to long-term coolant circulation).
Fin: Aluminum or copper fins (anti-corrosion coating is available on the surface) to increase the heat dissipation area and strengthen the heat exchange on the air side.
Fan system:
Configuration: axial fan or centrifugal fan (selected according to the demand of air volume), with energy-saving motors (such as inverter motors, which can adjust the speed according to the load).
Layout: The fan is located at the bottom of the V-shaped structure (suction type) or at the top (blowing type) to ensure that the airflow covers the entire heat dissipation surface.
Collector and piping interface:
is divided into two independent circuits, HT and LT, which are connected to the engine's high and low temperature cooling system respectively.
The interfaces support flanged or threaded connections for easy piping integration.
Workflow
High Temperature Circuit (HT):
The high temperature coolant (about 80~95℃) from the engine cylinder liner enters the HT bundle of the dry cooler, and the fan drives the air to flow through the fins to take away the heat in the bundle, and the coolant cools down and returns to the engine.
Low Temperature Circuit (LT):
The low temperature coolant (about 40~60℃) cooled by lubricating oil or pressurized air passes through the LT bundle, and then circulates to the engine related system after being cooled by air.
