The Main Features and Working Principle of CO2 Evaporator for Cold Storage
Cold storage CO2 evaporators are an important component used in cold storage and freezing facilities. They use carbon dioxide (CO2) as a refrigerant and are often referred to as CO2 refrigeration systems.
Here are the main features and working principles of cold storage CO2 evaporators:
Features:
Efficient refrigeration: carbon dioxide is an environmentally friendly refrigerant with good refrigeration efficiency.
Low environmental impact: Compared with traditional refrigerants such as Freon, carbon dioxide has less impact on the environment and meets the requirements of environmental protection.
Safety: Carbon dioxide works under proper pressure and is non-flammable, making it safer in environments such as cold storage.
Flexibility: It can be adapted to different refrigeration needs, including low and ultra-low temperature applications.
Principle of operation:
REFRIGERATION CYCLE: Cold storage carbon dioxide evaporators are part of a carbon dioxide refrigeration system. These systems use the changing state of carbon dioxide at different pressures to achieve refrigeration.
Compression: First, the carbon dioxide gas is compressed to a high pressure, usually done in a chiller.
Cooling: The high pressure carbon dioxide gas is then piped to the cold storage carbon dioxide evaporator.
Evaporation: Inside the evaporator, the high-pressure carbon dioxide gas is released and rapidly expands, thus lowering the temperature. This process turns the carbon dioxide gas into a low-temperature carbon dioxide gaseous state.
Heat exchange: The air or frozen objects in the cold storage come into contact with the low-temperature carbon dioxide gas on the surface of the evaporator, and heat is transferred from the objects in the cold storage to the carbon dioxide gas, resulting in refrigeration or freezing.
Circulation: The cooled carbon dioxide gas is again compressed into a high pressure state and re-enters the refrigeration cycle.
Through this cycling process, the cold storage carbon dioxide evaporator is able to continuously remove heat from the cold storage and maintain a refrigerated or frozen state. This system is not only energy efficient, but also environmentally friendly, as carbon dioxide is a naturally occurring gas that does not negatively affect the atmosphere.
