Steam Coils Evaporate Water During Palm Oil Production

Tube and fin heat exchangers can be used for water evaporation and liquid thickening operations in the production of palm oil. By controlling the hot medium (usually steam) in the internal pipework, the tube and fin heat exchanger is able to achieve these processes efficiently. Below are some of the ways in which tube and fin heat exchangers can be used in these operations:

Moisture evaporation: During the production of palm oil, a palm oil mixture may contain moisture. By introducing this mixture into the internal ducts of the tube and fin heat exchanger, the external fin structure increases the heat transfer surface area and vapour is introduced into the internal ducts, causing the temperature of the oil-water mixture to rise. At a sufficiently high temperature, the water will evaporate, thus enabling the process of water evaporation.

Liquid Concentration: If palm oil or other liquid products need to be concentrated, this can be achieved by means of a tube and fin heat exchanger. The liquid to be concentrated is introduced into the internal tubes and the external fin structure increases the contact area with the hot medium (vapour), thus heating the liquid to the point of evaporation and causing it to partially evaporate. By controlling the temperature and the degree of evaporation, the concentration of the liquid can be achieved.

In these processes, the design of the tube and fin heat exchanger allows for a very high heat exchange efficiency, as it increases the contact surface area between the internal tubes and the hot medium, improving heat transfer. Furthermore, tube and fin heat exchangers are typically able to withstand high temperature and pressure operating environments, making them ideally suited for water evaporation and liquid concentration operations in palm oil production.
