Square Finned Tube Heat Exchanger (SFTE) Application

Square Finned Tube Heat Exchanger (SFTE) is a common type of heat exchanger that is widely used in many industrial and commercial applications. It is mainly used to transfer thermal energy from one fluid to another for heat transfer and efficient use of energy.

Construction:

A square finned tube heat exchanger usually consists of the following components:

Tube bundle: It consists of a series of square finned tubes arranged in parallel. These finned tubes can be the surface of a metal tube (usually copper, aluminium or stainless steel) to which a series of longitudinally arranged fins are attached.

Fin: The fins are metal sheets, usually corrugated or linear, fixed to the outer surface of the tube bundle. The presence of fins increases the surface area for heat exchange, thus improving the heat transfer efficiency.

Principle of operation:

The working principle of square finned tube heat exchanger is similar to that of other heat exchangers, i.e., the transfer of heat is achieved by thermal conduction between two fluids. One fluid flows inside the tube bundle, called the "Tube Side", and the other fluid flows on the outside surface of the bundle, called the "Shell Side".

In the heat transfer process, heat is transferred from the tube side fluid through the metal tube wall to the fins, and then through the fins to the shell side fluid. Due to the presence of fins, the surface area for heat exchange is increased, thus increasing the heat transfer efficiency.

Applications:

Square finned tube heat exchanger is widely used in air conditioning, cooling, heating, evaporator, condenser and other fields such as:

Industrial field: used for cooling and heating fluid medium in petrochemical, chemical, electric power and other industrial processes.

Refrigeration and air-conditioning: evaporators and condensers in air-conditioning systems.

Hot water supply: for heating and supplying hot water in city heating.

Power plant: for steam condensation and waste heat recovery.

The design and selection of square finned tube heat exchangers depends on the specific application requirements, including parameters such as the nature of the fluid, temperature, pressure and flow rate. Through proper design and operation, square finned tube heat exchangers can achieve efficient energy transfer, thereby reducing energy consumption and costs.

Square finned tube heat exchanger is a common heat exchange equipment used to transfer heat between fluids. It consists of a set of finned tubes arranged in parallel directions. These finned tubes are usually square or rectangular in cross-section and each tube is fitted with fins on its outer surface. The design of the fins increases the surface area of the heat exchanger, thus improving the heat transfer efficiency.

Principle of operation:

A square finned tube heat exchanger is usually flowed by two fluids, the heat source fluid and the working fluid. Among them, the heat source fluid can be steam, hot water or other high-temperature fluids, while the working fluid can be air, water or other media to be heated or cooled.

The heat source fluid flows through the inner tube of the finned tube, while the working fluid passes over the outer surface of the finned tube. In this process, the surface area of the finned tube increases the contact surface for heat transfer, allowing heat to be transferred more efficiently from the heat source fluid to the working fluid. The greater the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the finned tube, the higher the heat transfer efficiency.

Applications:

Square finned tube heat exchangers are widely used in many industrial fields, including:

Air coolers: used in petrochemical and oil and gas processing production as condensation and cooling, refrigeration equipment condenser and evaporator.

Air preheaters: used in drying or drying processes where steam or hot water is used to heat air or process gases.

Flue Gas Waste Heat Recovery: Used in chemical, metallurgical, pharmaceutical and other industries to generate hot water from process waste gas and flue gas waste heat recovery as process water or domestic heating.

Oil cooler: It is used for oil cooling in hydraulic system and lubrication system in plastic machinery, engineering machinery, mining machinery, automobile, steel, wind power, aerospace and other industries.
