VRCOOLER box cooler is a hull-mounted heat exchanger installed directly inside the vessel sea chest, eliminating the need for large seawater pumps and extra pipeline layout.
- Hot fresh water / lube oil circulates inside U-shaped alloy tubes;
- Seawater flows over the outer surface of tube bundles via natural convection at berth and forced flow during sailing;
- Heat transfers from internal medium to surrounding seawater to stabilize operating temperature of engines and supporting systems.
This passive cooling structure reduces auxiliary power consumption significantly, helping vessels meet IMO CII carbon intensity regulations. Two standard tube material options are available to match different navigation waters: aluminum brass for clean coastal routes, and 90/10 copper-nickel for estuarine, silty and polluted harbor environments.
Wide Marine Application Range
- Main engine fresh water & lube oil cooling
- Auxiliary generator, thruster and hydraulic system cooling
- Suitable for bulk carriers, container ships, general cargo vessels, tugboats, dredgers, fishing boats and offshore work vessels
- Fit both new ship construction and old vessel cooling system retrofits
