Step-by-Step Installation Process

Prepare the Ceiling Opening

Cut an opening in the ceiling according to the dimensions specified in your unit's manual. The opening must be precise to accommodate the evaporator section .

Position and Secure the Unit

Position the insulated evaporator section of the unit over the hole in the ceiling .

Align the mounting tabs or holes on the unit with the supporting structure. Secure the unit in place. This is often done using threaded rods through mounting arms or by fastening it directly to the ceiling joists with the provided screws. Crucially, you must fasten the unit down to prevent it from moving during operation .

Ensure Proper Airflow and Sealing

Air Divider Alignment: This is a critical step. Look inside the unit and ensure that the air divider in the ceiling section lines up perfectly with the gasket divider in the evaporator section. This prevents the supply and return air from "short cycling," which would drastically reduce performance. You may need to gently bend the ceiling divider slightly forward or backward for a perfect seal .

Seal the Perimeter: Once aligned, seal the cowl to the ceiling at the gasket seam using the provided silicone or similar sealant .

Connect Utilities and Finalize

Condensate Drain: The evaporator section must be mounted with a very slight tilt (0.375” to 0.5”) down toward the condensate drain connection to ensure water drains properly .

Refrigerant Piping: Connect the pre-bent or field-routed piping to the thermostatic expansion valve on the evaporator .

Electrical: Connect all electrical wiring according to the unit's wiring diagram and local codes.

Reinstall the Diffuser: After all connections are made, attach the diffuser panel to the mounting bracket or flange. Secure it in place using the provided mounting clips or latches .

Critical Considerations for Success

Maintain Clearance: You must allow for sufficient airflow around the unit. Some models require a minimum clearance of two feet (24 inches) for proper unit operation. If installing multiple units, be sure they do not exhaust hot air into one another .
