How Does Mushroom Room Air Conditioning Work?

The temperature regulation function of Mushroom Room Air Conditioner relies on the phase change of the refrigerant (conversion of gas and liquid) to realize the heat transfer, and the core components include the compressor, condenser, evaporator, throttling device (e.g., capillary tube or expansion valve), and a four-way valve (used for switching between refrigeration/heating modes).

1. Refrigeration Mode

Compression: The compressor compresses the low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant gas (e.g. Freon) into a high-temperature, high-pressure gas, at which time the refrigerant carries a large amount of heat.

Heat dissipation: the high-temperature and high-pressure refrigerant gas enters the condenser (if air-cooled, the condenser exchanges heat with the outdoor air; if water-cooled, the condenser exchanges heat with the cooling water), releases heat and condenses into a medium-temperature and high-pressure liquid state.

Throttling: liquid refrigerant through the throttling device (such as capillary tube) to reduce pressure, into a low temperature and low pressure gas-liquid mixture, into the evaporator.

Heat absorption: Inside the evaporator, the low-temperature refrigerant absorbs heat from the air in the mushroom room and rapidly evaporates to a gaseous state, while lowering the temperature of the air flowing through the evaporator (i.e., “cooling”).

Circulation: the gaseous refrigerant returns back to the compressor and repeats the above cycle, continuously lowering the temperature inside the mushroom room.

2. Heating Mode

Changing the flow direction of the refrigerant through the four-way valve realizes the “interchangeable function of evaporator and condenser”:

The high-temperature and high-pressure refrigerant discharged from the compressor first enters the indoor evaporator (at this time as a “condenser”) and releases heat to heat the air inside the mushroom room.

The exothermic refrigerant becomes liquid and enters the outdoor condenser (at this time as “evaporator”) after pressure reduction by a throttling device, absorbing heat from the outside environment (even in a low-temperature environment, there is still heat available in the air).

The refrigerant evaporates to a gaseous state and returns to the compressor, completing the heat cycle and continuously warming the mushroom room.

How Does Mushroom Room Air Conditioning Work

Mushrooms are sensitive to humidity (e.g. the suitable humidity for flat mushrooms is usually 85%-95%), the air conditioner monitors the humidity in real time through sensors and links the following devices to regulate it:

Humidifying function: when the humidity is lower than the set value, it starts the built-in humidifiers (e.g. ultrasonic humidifier, electrode-type humidifier), which will atomize the water into small droplets and mix them into the circulating air to enhance the humidity.

Dehumidification function: When the humidity is higher than the set value, use the principle of “condensation and precipitation” of the refrigeration system -- let the high humidity air flow through the evaporator, and the water vapor in the air will be condensed into liquid water (attached to the surface of the evaporator, and discharged through the drainage pipe) to reduce the air humidity content and realize dehumidification. This reduces the moisture content of the air and realizes dehumidification.

Mushroom respiration releases CO₂, too high concentration will inhibit growth, air conditioner regulates it through fresh air exchange and internal circulation:

Internal circulation: built-in fan sends treated (suitable temperature and humidity) air evenly to all parts of the mushroom room, avoiding the difference of the local environment, and at the same time filtering the impurities and spores in the air through the filter, reducing the risk of pests and diseases.

Fresh air introduction: When the CO₂ concentration exceeds the standard (detected by the sensor), the fresh air valve will be opened automatically to introduce fresh air from outside, and at the same time, part of the indoor air will be discharged to reduce the CO₂ concentration to a suitable range (usually maintained at 500-1500ppm).
