Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide for RDHX Coils & Air Filters

1. Pre-Clean Safety Preparation

Shut down all IT equipment inside the rack, cut off power to the RDHX built-in fans (Active model).

Close the rack water inlet/outlet isolation valves, release residual water pressure via the vent valve.

Wear dust masks, gloves and safety glasses; prepare soft brushes, compressed air blower, mild neutral detergent, low-pressure water spray gun, dry rags and drain bucket.

Fully swing open the RDHX rear door for full access to coils and filters.

2. Remove & Clean Air Filters (Most frequent maintenance, every 1–3 months)

Pull out the slide-in filter frame from the front air intake side of the coil (the side facing server exhaust).

Two cleaning methods:

Light dust accumulation: Blow dust off the filter surface with dry compressed air (air pressure ≤ 0.3 MPa), blow from the clean side to the dirty side.

Heavy dirt/oil buildup: Rinse with room-temperature water mixed with neutral mild detergent, gently rub the mesh, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Place the filter flat in a ventilated area to air-dry completely — do not install wet filters (will cause mold, condensation and coil corrosion).

Reinsert the fully dry filter back into its slot, ensure no gaps to prevent unfiltered hot air bypassing the coil.

3. Clean the RDHX Heat Exchange Coils (Every 6–12 months)

Step 1 Dry Dust Removal

Use a soft plastic bristle brush to sweep surface dust between aluminum fins; blow residual dust away with low-pressure compressed air, keep the air gun parallel to fin plates to avoid bending thin fins.

Step 2 Wet Deep Cleaning (for sticky dust, lint, particulate buildup)

Dilute neutral coil cleaner with clean water per product instructions; avoid acidic/alkaline strong cleaners (corrode aluminum fins and copper tubes).

Spray the diluted cleaner evenly onto the coil fin surface, let it soak for 3–5 minutes to dissolve grime.

Rinse slowly with low-pressure clean water, spray from the air inlet side through to the exhaust side to flush trapped dirt out.

Collect wastewater in the RDHX bottom drip tray and drain completely; wipe coil frame dry with absorbent cloths.

Step 3 Post-Clean Inspection

Straighten any bent cooling fins gently with a fin comb to restore airflow efficiency.

Confirm no cleaning liquid residue remains between fins to prevent dust adhesion acceleration.

4. Special Notes for Active RDHX Built-in EC Fans

Wipe fan blades and fan frame with a damp soft cloth; do not spray water directly onto fan motors or wiring terminals.

Check fan bearings for dust buildup after cleaning; add special bearing lubricant if abnormal noise exists.

5. Post-Clean Recovery Process

Leave the RDHX door open for 2–4 hours to fully air-dry coils and internal components.

Reinstall dry filters, close all access panels, open rack water isolation valves.

Restore water operating pressure, run a short leak inspection to confirm no dripping.

Power on the RDHX fans and rack servers, monitor rack inlet/outlet air temperature for normal cooling performance.

6. Maintenance Frequency Reference

Light-dust clean data centers: Filters every 3 months, coils yearly

Factories, dusty edge computer rooms: Filters monthly, coils every 6 months

Low-dust clean AI data centers: Filters every 4 months, coils every 12–18 months
