CO2 Evaporator usually refer to refrigeration equipment that utilises carbon dioxide (CO2) as a refrigerant. These Evaporator use the CO2 cycle to achieve an air conditioning and refrigeration effect, which is becoming increasingly popular in some environmentally conscious settings.
The principle of operation of a CO2 Evaporator is a little different from the traditional refrigeration cycle and usually involves the following steps:
Compression: Firstly, the carbon dioxide gas is compressed into a high pressure gas.
Condensation: Next, this high pressure gas passes through a condenser where the carbon dioxide releases heat and condenses into a liquid.
Expansion: The condensed liquid carbon dioxide passes through an expansion valve (also known as a throttle) into the low-pressure region, where the pressure drops dramatically.
Evaporation: The liquid carbon dioxide evaporates into a gas in the evaporator, which absorbs heat from the surrounding area and lowers the air temperature.
Cycle: This cyclic process is repeated, resulting in a continuous cooling of the air in the room.
