Flue Gas Recovery in Boiler Plants
Boiler plant flue gas recovery is a technology designed to utilise the heat and other useful components in combustion exhaust gases. By recovering heat and other substances from flue gases, energy efficiency can be improved, environmental pollution can be reduced, and operating costs can be reduced to some extent.
The following are some common boiler plant flue gas recovery technologies:
Coal economiser: As mentioned earlier, a coal economiser is a device used to recover waste heat and is usually installed in the boiler flue. It transfers heat from the flue gas to the boiler's intake air, thereby increasing the thermal efficiency of the entire boiler system.
Flue Gas Accumulator: This is a technology that stores heat energy in the flue gas by embedding thermal mass materials in the flue gas. This stored thermal energy can then be released when required to provide additional heat.
Flue Gas Scrubbing: Through the use of absorbents or other scrubbing agents, some hazardous substances can be removed from the flue gas while recovering the heat energy contained therein. This helps reduce environmental pollution and improves the cleanliness of the system.
Gas desulphurisation: The flue gas emitted from some boilers may contain sulphides, which are harmful to the environment. Gas desulphurisation removes sulphides from the flue gas and may produce by-products such as sulphuric acid in the process.
Waste Heat Utilisation: In addition to recovering heat from the flue gas, other forms of waste heat utilisation can be considered, such as for steam production, electricity generation or other heating needs.
