Floor Standing Air Handling Unit for Paint Booth

A floor-standing Air Handling Unit (AHU) for a paint booth is a specialized industrial climate control system. Unlike standard HVAC units, it is engineered to manage the three critical and simultaneous demands of spray painting: explosion prevention (handling flammable solvents), air purity (filtering overspray), and process temperature control (for proper paint curing).

In most paint booth setups, the floor-standing AHU acts as the "supply" or "make-up air" unit. It draws fresh air from outside, conditions it (filters, heats, or cools it), and pushes it into the spray booth. To maintain safe air velocity and directional flow (pushing fumes toward the exhaust), these units are typically built in one of three configurations to match your booth's airflow pattern:

Crossdraft: The AHU supplies air through filters on one end of the booth, pushing contaminants across the work area to an exhaust on the opposite wall. This is the most space-efficient design.

Downdraft: The AHU supplies air through the ceiling, forcing it straight down through the floor grates. This provides the highest quality finish and best operator protection but requires a pit or raised floor.

Semi-Downdraft: The AHU supplies air high on the wall or ceiling, angled downward, exhausting through filters at floor level on the side or back walls. It offers a balance of quality and installation cost.
