Features of Oval Finned Tubes
(1) Compared with round tube finned tube, elliptical finned tube is easier to achieve a compact arrangement, so that the overall volume of the entire heat exchanger is reduced, thus reducing the footprint.
(2) Due to the shape characteristics of the elliptical finned tube, the air-side resistance is small, and the heat exchange coefficient between the fluids increases; the thermal resistance inside the tube is relatively small, increasing the heat exchange capacity of the fluids inside the tube.
(3) The heat transfer area of elliptical finned tube is larger than that of round tube with the same cross-sectional area because the heat transfer periphery of elliptical tube is longer with the same cross-sectional area.
(4) The most commonly used elliptical finned tubes are rectangular steel fins, which have high strength and long service life as the base tube should not freeze and crack in winter.
(5) Since elliptical finned tubes can be arranged more compactly, the influence of the front row of tubes on the rear row is relatively large, and the flow resistance outside the tube can be reduced by increasing the fin spacing of the rear row of tubes, but the number of rows should not be too large.
