The single circuit dry cooler for chilled water is commonly used in industrial cooling and is particularly suitable for applications where water or other coolants need to be cooled by air. It usually cools by air without direct contact with water.

1. Principle of operation

A single loop dry cooler operates through a closed cooling circuit. Cold water or coolant circulates in the loop and transfers heat to the air through the cooling coil, which flows over the surface of the coil by the action of a fan and removes the heat. The whole process does not consume water, reducing water consumption and system maintenance requirements.

2. Main components

Cooling coil: usually copper or aluminium tubes with aluminium fins are used to increase the heat transfer area and improve the heat transfer efficiency.

Fan system: High-efficiency fan pushes the air to flow through the coil to take away the heat from the chilled water. The fan can be an axial or centrifugal fan, depending on the design requirements.

Control system: Dry coolers are usually equipped with a temperature control system that automatically adjusts the fan speed according to the temperature of the cooling water to optimise cooling efficiency and save energy.

3. Application Scenarios

Industrial cooling: used to cool circulating water, widely used in air conditioning system, data centre cooling, refrigeration unit condenser, mechanical equipment cooling, etc.

Where there is no water or limited water resources: dry coolers are suitable for applications where water cooling is inconvenient, such as areas where water resources are scarce or where the humidity of the environment needs to be strictly controlled (e.g. certain electronic production plants).
