Counterflow Heat Exchanger for Heat Recovery for Energy-efficient Ventilation
Counterflow Heat Exchanger: Fresh air and exhaust air flow in parallel and opposite directions within the heat exchange core. Sensible heat (temperature) is efficiently transferred through metal/polymer partitions, achieving ventilation heat recovery and significantly reducing air conditioning/heating energy consumption. It is a core component of energy-saving ventilation systems (HRV/MVHR).
Working Principle:
Winter: Indoor hot exhaust air (approx. 20–24℃) and outdoor cold fresh air (approx. -10–5℃) flow in opposite directions through the heat exchange core. Heat is transferred from the exhaust air to the fresh air through the partitions. The fresh air is preheated before being sent indoors, recovering 75%–93% of the exhaust air heat.
Summer: Indoor cool exhaust air (approx. 24–26℃) pre-cools outdoor hot fresh air (approx. 30–38℃), reducing the air conditioning cooling load.
Key: Complete isolation between fresh air and exhaust air, preventing odor and moisture cross-transfer (sensible heat type), ensuring indoor air quality.
Applications
Residential/Apartment: Whole-house fresh air system + heat recovery, reducing winter heating energy consumption by 30%–50%.
Commercial Buildings: Ventilation systems for office buildings, hotels, and shopping malls, suitable for large air volume requirements (1000–10000 m³/h).
Industrial Scenarios: Electronic factories, pharmaceutical workshops, and food processing plants, balancing ventilation and energy consumption.
Passive Buildings: Standard feature in ultra-low energy buildings, meeting energy-saving standards of ≥80% heat recovery efficiency.
