The cooling plate (industry-referred to as liquid cooling plate/water cooling plate) is the core heat exchange component of liquid-cooled thermal management for power batteries. Replacing traditional air cooling, it is standard equipment in over 85% of current new energy passenger vehicles. It is responsible for stabilizing the battery temperature within the optimal range of 20–35℃, fulfilling four core functions: heat dissipation, low-temperature preheating, temperature uniformity control, and prevention of thermal runaway.

Core Working Principles

1. Heat Conduction: Heat generated during cell charging and discharging is transferred to the metal surface of the cooling plate via a thermally conductive silicone pad (TIM interface material).

2. Fluid Heat Exchange: Water-glycol coolant circulates through precision flow channels within the plate, carrying away heat from the plate surface.

3. Bidirectional Temperature Control:

- High Temperature: The coolant circulates to the front-end radiator for heat dissipation, achieving cooling during fast charging/high load.

- Low Temperature: A PTC/heat pump heats the coolant, which in turn preheats the battery, ensuring range and charging speed in winter.

4. Closed-Loop Circulation: The coolant forms a closed loop through the water pump, heat exchanger, and cooling plate, achieving constant temperature control throughout the entire circuit.

1. Temperature Control Range: Stable temperature range of 20–35℃, suppressing high-temperature degradation and low-temperature capacity drop;

2. Temperature Uniformity Control: Optimized flow channels result in a cell temperature difference of ≤2–5℃, preventing localized overheating and rapid degradation of cell consistency;

3. Fast Charging Support: Compatible with 800V high-voltage platforms and 3C/4C ultra-fast charging, solving the problem of high-power heat generation;

4. Safety Protection: Significantly reduces the risk of thermal runaway, meeting the new "no fire, no explosion" requirements of automakers;

5. Extended Lifespan: Reduces temperature-induced aging, increasing the cycle life of the power battery by 20%+;

6. Lightweight Integration: Thin and lightweight aluminum sheet material allows for integration with the CTP/CTC battery pack base plate, saving internal space.
