Condenser Coil and Evaporator Coil in a Dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers use the principles of heat exchange to remove moisture from the air. The two critical components involved in this process are the condenser coil and the evaporator coil.
Evaporator Coil
Function: The evaporator coil is responsible for absorbing moisture from the air. As warm, humid air passes over the evaporator coil, the refrigerant inside the coil evaporates, absorbing heat and moisture from the air.
Process:
Cooling and Condensation: The temperature of the evaporator coil is lower than the dew point of the indoor air, causing moisture to condense on the coil.
Water Collection: The condensed water drips into a collection pan and is either drained away or collected for disposal.
Condenser Coil
Function: The condenser coil releases the heat absorbed by the refrigerant from the evaporator coil. Once the refrigerant leaves the evaporator coil as a gas, it enters the condenser coil where it is cooled and condensed back into a liquid.
Process:
Heat Exchange: As the refrigerant passes through the condenser coil, ambient air is blown over the coil, dissipating heat and allowing the refrigerant to cool down.
Condensation: The refrigerant changes back to a liquid state, ready to return to the evaporator coil to continue the cycle.
