Chilled Water AHU Coil
Components
Coil:
Made of copper or aluminum tubes with fins attached to enhance heat transfer.
Cold water circulates through the tubes, absorbing heat from the air.
Water Inlet and Outlet:
Connections for the chilled water supply and return lines.
Fins:
Increase the surface area for better heat exchange between the air and the chilled water.
Airflow Mechanism:
Fans or blowers draw warm air from the space across the coil.
Operation
Air Circulation:
Warm air from the room is pulled into the AHU by the fan.
Cooling Process:
As the air flows over the chilled water coil, heat is transferred from the air to the chilled water.
The water absorbs this heat, cooling the air before it is delivered back into the space.
Dehumidification:
As the air cools, its ability to hold moisture decreases, leading to condensation on the coil, which removes humidity from the air.
Advantages
Energy Efficiency: Using chilled water is often more energy-efficient compared to direct expansion systems.
Scalability: Suitable for large buildings with varying cooling loads.
Comfort Control: Provides precise temperature and humidity control for indoor environments.
Applications
Commercial Buildings: Offices, shopping malls, and hospitals.
Industrial Facilities: Factories requiring temperature control for processes.
Data Centers: Critical for maintaining optimal temperatures for equipment.
