What is a fluid cooler?
To begin, we need to define what a Fluid Cooler is. They are basically a mix of fans and coils designed in such a way that fluid can travel through the coil several times. This permits air to travel around the whole perimeter of the coil. Fluid Coolers, as the name implies, are intended to keep the fluids in the coil cool. Within a closed-loop system, fluids are typically made up of water or a glycol/water mixture. One key advantage of this closed-loop technology is that it avoids the need for costly water treatments like those found in cooling towers.
What is an air-cooled condenser?
This unit's configuration is not dissimilar to that of a Fluid Cooler. The fundamental distinction of an Air Cooled Condenser is that it is intended for commercial refrigerant and air conditioning systems. Across the coil, these units reject heat from the refrigerant to the ambient air. After that, the refrigerant is condensed from vapor to liquid.
CONFIGURATIONS
Prop fans and coils in a similar casing with vertical airflow are used in the great majority of Fluid Coolers and Air Cooled Condensers. To allow for draw-thru airflow, the fans are situated above the coils. There are also several layouts that permit horizontal airflow. Because air is utilized as a substitute for water cooling, these machines are also known as "Dry" Coolers. Air is usually a more environmentally friendly option.
