What is Heating Coil?
HVAC coils are integral components within Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems responsible for transferring heat between air and a fluid, typically water or refrigerant. These coils play a crucial role in the heating and cooling processes of an HVAC system, contributing to temperature regulation and indoor comfort. There are two main types of HVAC coils: evaporator coils and condenser coils.
Evaporator Coils:
Located inside the air handler or furnace unit, evaporator coils are responsible for absorbing heat from indoor air during the cooling process.
Refrigerant circulates through the coils in a closed loop. When warm indoor air passes over the coils, the refrigerant absorbs heat and evaporates, turning into a low-pressure gas.
The cooled air is then distributed throughout the building, contributing to the cooling of the indoor space.
Condenser Coils:
Found in the outdoor unit of an air conditioning system, condenser coils release the heat absorbed by the evaporator coils.
The high-pressure, high-temperature refrigerant gas flows through the condenser coils. As outdoor air passes over these coils, the refrigerant releases heat and condenses back into a liquid state.
The process repeats as the refrigerant cycles between the evaporator and condenser coils, maintaining the desired indoor temperature.
